What you will learn
You'll learn how to carry out routine chainsaw maintenance safely.
You'll learn how to inspect and prepare a chainsaw before use.
You'll learn correct cross-cutting techniques for felled timber.
You'll learn how to identify and manage hazards when working with chainsaws.
You'll learn the safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
You'll learn how to sharpen and tension a chainsaw chain.
You'll learn relevant health and safety legislation for chainsaw operators.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions and practical hands-on training. Assessment is competence-based: you'll be observed carrying out chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting tasks to demonstrate you can work safely and to the required standard. There may also be written or oral questions to check your underpinning knowledge.
