About this course

Free Level 2 Car Mechanic Course in Tonbridge. Classes run full-time at Hadlow College, in brand new motor vehicle workshops. The course runs over one year and covers the core skills of light vehicle maintenance and repair. You'll learn how to meet workshop health and safety requirements, carry out routine vehicle maintenance, and remove and replace vehicle units and components. This car mechanic qualification is awarded by IMI, a recognised name in the automotive industry.

Who this course is for

Please be aware that all of our Motor Vehicle courses for the North Kent College, Tonbridge campus from September 2022, will be delivered at our Hadlow College campus in our brand new Motor Vehicle workshops.

Prepare for a career in the automotive industry as either a technician or associated motor industry employment.

You will discover how to meet health and safety requirements in the workshop and learn how to:

  • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance
  • Remove and replace units and components relating to engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes and electrical and electronic systems

You will be assessed by practical and written tasks and externally set examinations. Supported work experience is arranged with your tutor.

You'll study in Hadlow College's motor vehicle workshops, combining classroom learning with hands-on practical work. Assessment is through a combination of practical tasks and knowledge-based work aligned to the IMI qualification standard. Your progress will be assessed throughout the course.
