About this course

Free Level 2 Car Mechanic Course in Shrewsbury. Classes run full-time at Walford College, one of the largest motor vehicle facilities in the region. The course takes one year and covers the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to work in auto care and maintenance. You'll work in fully-equipped workshops, using specialist tools, diagnostic equipment and industry links to build a thorough understanding of the trade. Entry requires a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 including English and maths, or a Level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification with good progress in English and maths.

Who this course is for

You will be trained in our fully-equipped workshops in one of the largest motor vehicle facilities in the region. You will develop the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours to help you take a step closer to working in the auto care and maintenance industries or progression to a higher level. You will learn to handle and use specialist tools, equipment and diagnostic systems. Through workshops and industry links you will gain an extensive understanding of the industry.

Entry requirements

A minimum of four GSCEs at grade 3, including English and maths or successful completion of the Level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification and good progress with English and maths. Applicants without suitable practical experience may be advised to commence study at Level 1.

Industry links are built into the programme, giving you exposure to real working practices. Your progress in English and maths is also supported throughout the course.
