What you will learn
You'll use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble timber components.
You'll read and interpret workshop drawings and setting-out rods.
You'll produce doors, windows, stairs, and other joinery items to specification.
You'll select and use appropriate timber and manufactured board materials.
You'll apply marking-out techniques accurately before cutting and jointing.
You'll work safely and follow health and safety requirements in a workshop environment.
You'll finish and fit joinery components to the required standard.
How you will learn
You'll learn through practical workshop sessions in the classroom, working with timber and joinery tools to complete set tasks and projects. Assessment is through a combination of practical assignments and knowledge-based tasks. You'll be assessed on your ability to produce joinery items to a given specification, as well as your understanding of materials, processes, and safe working practices.
