About this course

Free Level 2 Barbering Course in Dereham. Classes run at Poultec Training Dereham. This is a full-time, daytime barbering course running over 18 months. You'll train hands-on in a fully operating salon, working with paying clients from early in the course. The level 2 barbering qualification covers cutting men's hair, shaping facial hair, shaving, finishing, and client consultation. Entry is open to 16 to 18 year olds; no formal academic qualifications are required.

Who this course is for

This course will suit you if you're just starting out in Barbering or have some knowledge and basic skills within the industry, this will be a hands on course and will entail working with paying clients within a fully operating salon, the course will include the following units:

Cut facial hair to shape Cut mens hair using basic techniques Advise and consult with clients Assist with shaving clients Dry and finish mens hair Create basic outlines and detailing in hair Fulfil salon reception duties Shampoo and condition the hair & scalp

The course will also include the following core skills: Teamwork/Employee Rights & Responsibilities. CV & Interview Skills Workshop. Level 1 Functional Skills English. Level 1 Functional Skills Maths.

Entry requirements

You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however an initial selection interview is mandatory.

You'll learn through practical, hands-on training in a working salon environment, serving real paying clients. Classroom sessions support the practical work. Assessment is based on observed performance in the salon and your ability to carry out barbering services to the required standard. An initial selection interview takes place before you start.
