About this course

Free Level 2 Art and Design Course in Truro. Classes run at Truro College, full-time during the day.

The course focuses on photography. You'll explore creativity, investigation, and experimentation to build both technical and expressive skills. Projects are hands-on and immersive, giving you space to develop your own visual ideas over one year. UAL Awarding Body recommends you have at least three GCSEs at grades 3 or 4, including English Language or Literature and/or Maths.

You'll finish with a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design.

Who this course is for

If you enjoy taking photographs, then this course will stretch and challenge you by providing an opportunity to engage in projects that encourage creativity, investigation, analysis and experimentation as a means of developing technical and expressive skills. The UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design: Photography, has been designed for students who have an interest in photography or a related subject, to explore and extend this interest via a fulltime, immersive learning experience. Students will be able to test their creativity within a structure that will provide a sound base of skills and knowledge but will also enhance self-confidence and reveal the potential career opportunities that exist in the sector. Many students will have identified a specific career in the creative industries that they wish to progress to (e.g., photographer, fashion designer, graphic designer, product designer) and will use this qualification as a starting point.

Entry requirements

The course is designed primarily, for 1618-year-olds who are getting started with a full-time Photography experience. UAL Awarding Body recommends that you have a minimum three GCSEs at grades 3 or 4 including English Language or Literature and/or Mathematics.

How you will learn

You'll learn through studio sessions, practical projects, and creative workshops in the classroom. Assessment is portfolio-based. You'll gather evidence of your work throughout the year, showing your creative process and technical development. There is no written exam.
