About this course

Level 2 Animal Care Course in Liverpool. Classes run at Croxteth Park Centre, full-time over one year. The course is free if you are under 19 years old. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply depending on your circumstances.

You'll study animal behaviour and handling, animal breeds and grooming, feeding and accommodation, and animal health and welfare. The course also covers British wildlife species and habitats, animal biology, and health and safety in the land-based industry. You'll combine practical sessions with classroom learning throughout the year.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Care.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or equivalent, including English Language, Maths and Science (or related subject). Check FE Admission guide for changes and equivalencies. It is strongly recommended for applicants to gain some voluntary experience within the animal sector in order ensure that they are fully prepared for the expectations of the study programme and gain a realistic insight of the animal industry. A minimum of five days (which do not have to be consecutive) is advised.
