Free Level 1 Functional Skills English Course in Hammersmith and Fulham. Classes run at William Morris Sixth Form. Daytime sessions run part-time over one year, giving you time to manage other commitments alongside your studies. The course builds your reading, writing, and communication skills to a solid working level. Level 1 is the stepping stone between Entry Level 3 and Level 2, which is the recognised GCSE English equivalent. You'll need GCSE grades mainly at 1 or 2, or passes at Entry Level 3 in English and Maths, to join.

You'll write clearly for different purposes and audiences, including letters, emails, and short reports.
You'll use grammar, punctuation, and spelling accurately at Level 1 standard.
You'll plan, draft, and check your own writing.
You'll take part in discussions and communicate information clearly in spoken English.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at William Morris Sixth Form. Assessment for the AQA Functional Skills Qualification in English at Level 1 covers reading, writing, and speaking and listening. Reading and writing are assessed through externally set and marked tests. Speaking and listening is assessed through a centre-assessed task observed by your tutor.
