What you will learn

  • You'll learn how to prepare surfaces for painting and decorating.
  • You'll practise applying paint and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and basic tools.
  • You'll learn how to hang wallpaper and other wall coverings.
  • You'll understand health and safety on construction sites.
  • You'll learn how to identify and use the correct materials and equipment for decorating tasks.
  • You'll develop an understanding of colour, finish, and surface preparation standards.

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical, hands-on tasks in a classroom and workshop setting. Assessment is through observed practical work and short written or knowledge-based tasks. Your progress is assessed against the requirements of the City and Guilds specification throughout the course.
