Free Level 1 Computer Course in Penrith. Classes run at Penrith Library, part-time during the day, over 15 weeks.

The course builds the digital skills you need for everyday life and work. You'll learn to make appointments and orders online, conduct video calls, create and edit documents, and fix basic problems on your device. There are no formal entry requirements, and you'll complete an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you.

You'll finish with a Gateway Qualifications Essential Digital Skills qualification at Level 1.

The qualification provides learners with the essential digital skills which are needed in a wide range of situations in life and at work. For example, successful learners will be able to make appointments, order goods and services, organise payments using online platforms, conduct video calls, create, edit and save a range of documents, and troubleshoot basic problems on their device. At Level 1 the focus is primarily on digital skills for work with a secondary focus on digital skills for life.

Entry requirements

The qualification is designed for students with little or no digital skills and there are no formal entry requirements. It is, however, useful for learners to be able to turn on and control a device, connect it to the internet and open browsers and applications. How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Penrith Library. The course combines practical tasks with tutor support. Assessment is based on completing tasks that demonstrate your digital skills, rather than a written exam. Your tutor will guide you through each skill and check your progress as you go.
