Free Level 1 Computer Course in Newton Abbot. Classes run at Learn Devon The Passmore Edwards Centre, part-time during the day. The course runs over 45 hours and is free for eligible learners. You should already be comfortable with the basics of using digital devices, or have completed an Entry Level 3 Essential Digital Skills course. If you are unsure, there is a short initial assessment to find the right level for you. You will cover everyday digital tasks, online safety, and using technology for work. Classes are small, with no more than 12 learners per group.

Who this course is for

This course is for anyone who may wish to improve their existing digital skills, for work and everyday life. You may already have completed an Entry 3 in essential digital skills, or you may wish to brush up your existing digital skills. It will support your progression to a work role where digital literacy skills are required and will boost your career prospects by the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification.

Entry requirements

You should be confident with the basics of using digital devices for everyday life or you will need to have successfully completed our Entry Level 3 Essential Digital Skills course to enrol on this course. If not, there will be a short initial assessment to make sure you are on the best course for your needs.

How you will learn

You will learn in a small classroom group of no more than 12 learners. Tutors support you through practical tasks using real devices and everyday digital activities. Assessment is ongoing through tasks and activities that reflect real-life digital use. You will complete a short initial assessment at the start to confirm this is the right level for you.
