Free Level 1 British Sign Language Course in York. Classes run at York College, part-time during the day. The course takes one week to complete. What you will learn
You'll learn the BSL alphabet and how to fingerspell names and words
You'll sign everyday vocabulary covering topics such as greetings, family, and numbers
You'll hold a basic signed conversation with another person
You'll understand Deaf culture and the role BSL plays in the Deaf community
You'll recognise and produce common signs in a range of everyday situations
How you will learn
Classes are classroom based and run part-time during the day. You'll practise signing with other learners and with your tutor in face-to-face sessions. Assessment is practical, focusing on your ability to produce and understand signed communication at Level 1.
