Free Level 1 Bricklaying Course in Bishop Auckland. Classes run at Bishop Auckland College, full-time during the day. Over the course of a year, you'll build practical bricklaying skills from the ground up. Units cover health and safety, building half-brick and block walls, and cavity walling. You can also go on work placements and site visits, and work toward your CSCS card. No formal bricklaying experience is needed to start.
Who this course is for
Students will take part in this introductory course building a foundation of knowledge and skills over the course of the academic year to support progression on to level 2 or an apprenticeship. The course covers a range of units including health & safety as well as practical elements such as building a brick wall, a cavity wall and block walling. Students can go out on work placement as well as experiencing further enrichment with site visits and hearing from local employers visiting the college to deliver masterclasses and talks around industry standards and career progression.

No formal entry requirements in bricklaying, English and maths GCSE Grade 4 or above an advantage but not essential

How you will learn
The Diploma contains six units assessed through two online tests and four paper-based assessments covering both theory and practical work. Classroom sessions combine taught knowledge with hands-on practical tasks. You'll also have the opportunity to go on work placements and site visits, and to hear from local employers through masterclasses and industry talks.
What you will need to bring
You'll need safety footwear and overalls, which you can purchase from Bishop Auckland College. A high-visibility vest will be provided for practical sessions.
