Do you have a natural artistic flair? Do you love working with different materials to create amazing designs? Maybe you’re thinking of a career in the creative arts. This course is the perfect place to start.

During the one-year course, you’ll be introduced to different ways of working with materials, techniques and processes as well as the tools you’ll need to start thinking like an artist. There are lots of opportunities for work experience and an introduction to design in the ‘real world’ through visits from artists.

This course has been designed to introduce the core parts of art, design, and media and is an ideal starting point to explore many creative areas and ideas. It will allow you to develop, explore, and express ideas, gain self-confidence, and organizational skills which will aid your progression onto a level two art, design, or media course.

Based at Lincoln College of Art and Design at Christ's Hospital Terrace (in the Cathedral Quarter) which has excellent facilities including a print room, 3D workshops (ceramics, glass, plaster, wood, and metals), a dark room, five MAC suites, fashion workshop, photography and media studios and light and airy art.

You'll learn through practical, hands-on studio sessions in the classroom. Assessment is through a portfolio of creative work you build throughout the course. You'll also take part in work experience placements to apply your skills in a real creative environment.

The centre will provide most materials. Christ's Hospital Terrace will confirm anything else you need before you start.
