About this course

Free Level 2 Fabrication and Welding Course in Ipswich. Classes run full-time at Suffolk New College, five days a week during the day, and take one year to complete. Most of your time is spent in a modern welding and fabrication workshop, building practical skills alongside classroom learning. You'll also meet local employers and attend engineering exhibitions, including the Duxford Engineering Technology Skills Exhibition. To start, you'll need three GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including maths and/or English, or a Level 1 qualification with maths and/or English at Level 1.

Who this course is for

The study programme is mainly practical based and you will learn in our modern welding and fabrication workshop. You will develop your practical skills and interact with local employers, who will share their knowledge and experience with you. You will also attend various exhibitions, such as the Duxford Engineering Technology Skills Exhibition. The study programme will also develop your personal, social and employability skills, which includes opportunities to work on community projects and to explore the various career pathways within the engineering industry.

Entry requirements

Three GCSEs at Grade 3 including maths and/or English, or a Level 1 qualification plus maths and/or English at Level 1.
