Who this course is for

Nova Training offer a GCSE (9-1) English Language - post 16 retake. This qualification is available to any learners who achieved a grade D or grade 3 in their GCSE English language at school. Nova Training offer a blended learning approach consisting of classroom based lessons with a GCSE Tutor, supported study in centres and e-learning via our e learning platform.

Course Content The course supports learners to develop their GCSE English Language Skills in preparation for either the Autumn or Summer retake windows provided by the examining body.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 16 to 19. As this is a retake qualification learners must have achieved a grade D or 3 in GCSE English Language previously.

  • You'll develop your reading skills, analysing fiction and non-fiction texts.
  • You'll practise writing for different purposes and audiences.
  • You'll learn how to structure and craft descriptive and narrative writing.
  • You'll study how writers use language and form to create effects.
  • You'll build skills in summarising and comparing texts.
  • You'll prepare for both written exam papers in the Pearson Edexcel GCSE English Language qualification.

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom lessons with a GCSE tutor during the day. The course also includes supported study sessions at the centre and online learning through an e-learning platform. Assessment is by written exam. Pearson Edexcel sets two exam papers, which you'll sit in the autumn or summer exam series. There is no coursework component for this qualification.
