About this course

Free GCSE English Language Course in Cambridge. Classes run at Coleridge Community College, part-time during the day.

The course is for adults aged 19 or over who want to gain or retake their GCSE. You'll need to have studied English to Functional Skills Level 2, or hold a GCSE grade D or equivalent. An initial assessment is required before you enrol. Call 01223 712340 to book an appointment. The course runs over nine months and covers reading, writing, spoken language, and analysis of texts.

You'll finish with a GCSE in English Language.

Do you need to update your CV? Did you not achieve your English qualification through school? Are you 19 years old or over? This is a one-year course that will enable you to take the GCSE exam.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have studied English to Functional Skills Level 2 or have a recent GCSE Grade D (or equivalent). Please speak to the office if you have O-levels / CSEs or qualifications from outside the UK. How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Coleridge Community College, with a tutor guiding your learning each week. The AQA GCSE is assessed by two written exams at the end of the course. There is no coursework, but spoken language is assessed separately and recorded as an endorsement on your certificate.
