What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percentages in practical contexts.
  • You'll interpret and use ratios and proportions to solve problems.
  • You'll read, interpret, and draw charts, graphs, and tables.
  • You'll use measures, shapes, and basic geometry in real calculations.
  • You'll apply maths to everyday situations such as budgeting, measurement, and data.
  • You'll practise answering the types of questions used in the Level 2 Functional Skills test.

How you will learn

Classes are classroom based at Norham Adult Learning Centre, running in the evening over 12 weeks. You'll work through maths topics in a workshop format, building on existing knowledge. Assessment is by Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills tests at Level 1 or Level 2, taken when you're ready. There is no coursework portfolio; the qualification is awarded on the basis of the test result.
