About this course

Free Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Course. Study online, at your own pace, fitting learning around your life. You'll need Functional Skills Maths Level 1 or will complete an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you. The course runs over 10 weeks. A Level 2 functional skills maths qualification is the recognised GCSE maths equivalent, and many employers and colleges accept it in place of a GCSE grade 4. It covers the maths skills used in everyday life, education, and work. Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics Level 2 with certificate.

If you would like to equip yourself with the basic skills you need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life, this is the course for you.

Entry requirements

Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and /or completion of initial and diagnostic assessments. It is also preferable that your level of English is at least one level higher than the level of maths you plan to take.

  • You'll work with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percentages.
  • You'll interpret and use data from tables, charts, and graphs.
  • You'll solve problems involving ratio and proportion.
  • You'll use measures, shape, and space in practical contexts.

  • You'll develop the skills to use maths independently in work and everyday life.

How you will learn

You study online, working through material at your own pace. Assessment is by a formal written exam set and marked by Pearson Edexcel. The exam tests both calculator and non-calculator skills. You'll complete practice tasks and topic work online before sitting the exam. The centre will advise you on when and how to book your exam.
