About this course

Free Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Course in Dudley. Classes run at Castle and Priory Neighbourhood Learning Centre, part-time on Friday mornings.

The course is for anyone without a GCSE grade C (grade 4) or above in maths. It covers numbers and the number system, measures, shape and space, and handling data. You'll study around 74 hours in total, roughly two hours a week over up to 40 weeks. Teaching is classroom-based, with independent study at home to support your learning.

You'll finish with a Level 2 Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics, the recognised GCSE maths equivalent accepted by employers and colleges.

None, before joining a course, all learners will have an initial assessment to ensure that you are on the correct level course.

How you will learn

The centre carries out an initial and diagnostic assessment at the start. Your progress is assessed continually throughout the course. At the end, you'll sit two formal exams: one non-calculator paper and one calculator paper.
