Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Leyland. Evening classes run at Runshaw College, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. You'll have a short Skills Check before you start to make sure this is the right level for you. The course covers practical maths skills used in everyday work and life situations, from calculating percentages to managing finances. It runs over 17 weeks part-time. A level 1 functional skills maths qualification is a recognised gcse maths alternative that many employers accept.
Who this course is for
Adults 19+. Our Functional Skills courses focus on the skills needed in everyday work and social situations. They help develop practical maths skills and allow you to apply these to a range of realistic everyday situations. Whether you need to learn how to calculate percentages for work or balance your personal finances, Functional Skills Maths courses will focus on practical maths skills used in everyday life. The awarding body for the course is City & Guilds (C&G). Task based activities will allow you to practise these in real life scenarios. Your progress will be regularly reviewed with your tutor. You will work individually, in pairs, small groups or as a whole group. In order to consolidate the skills and knowledge taught, you will need to do approximately 3 hours of directed study per week in your own time.
Entry requirements
Before you enrol, we will make sure you are enrolled to the right level of course for you through a short Skills Check and Information appointment. You should be able to state which skills you wish to improve, have clear goals you wish to achieve and be able to work independently.
