About this course

Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Course. Study online, with weekly live classes on Tuesday evenings. The course is for adults aged 19 or over. You study at Level 1, a recognised step toward GCSE maths equivalent status.

The course covers everyday numbers, shapes and measuring, and data and probability. You'll work through real-life maths situations rather than abstract problems. Topics include percentages, fractions, area, volume, averages, and reading charts. Classes run for around 22 weeks. You'll sit your exam at a Nottinghamshire library.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1.

  • You'll apply exam techniques to prepare for your City and Guilds assessment.

How you will learn

Classes run online every Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm, over 19 sessions. You'll need a laptop with a camera and a stable internet connection. You'll complete homework between sessions. A textbook is provided after your online initial assessment. Your exam is taken in person at a Nottinghamshire library.
