You'll develop your reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communication skills for everyday work and life situations. The course takes 12 months part-time. A Level 2 Functional Skills Qualification in English is the recognised GCSE English equivalent, accepted by employers and colleges when they ask for GCSE English or equivalent. Prior to starting the course, you will be required to complete an initial assessment and meet with your tutor. This will help us understand your current starting point and allow us to tailor the course to meet your specific needs.

How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Cambourne Village College, with a tutor who tailors sessions to your needs based on your initial assessment. Assessment for the City and Guilds Level 2 Functional Skills English Qualification covers three components: reading, writing, and speaking, listening and communication. Each component is assessed separately. Reading and writing are assessed by external written exams. Speaking, listening and communication is assessed by your tutor through a set task.
