There are no formal entry requirements for the Functional Skills Level 2 English course. However, learners should ideally have completed Functional Skills Level 1 English or have equivalent knowledge and skills. It is recommended that learners have a good basic understanding of reading, writing, and speaking English before beginning this course.
An initial assessment may be required before enrolling, to ensure that the course is appropriate for the learner's current skill level.

What you could study next
Once you have your Level 2 Functional Skills English qualification, you could move into a vocational qualification in a subject that interests you, such as Health and Social Care, Business Administration, or Childcare. If you want to go further with English, a GCSE English Language qualification builds on the same skills at a higher academic level. Many apprenticeships and Level 3 courses also become accessible once you hold this qualification.
