Free Functional Skills English Level 1 in Stockton-on-Tees. Classes run at Stockton Riverside College, part-time during the day, over 16 weeks. You'll start with a short assessment so you're placed at the right level. The course covers reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills used in everyday life and work. Functional Skills English Level 1 sits just below Level 2, which is the recognised GCSE English equivalent. Many employers and training providers ask for Level 1 as a minimum.

Assessment for Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills English Level 1 includes a reading test, a writing test, and a speaking, listening, and communication component. All assessments are set and marked externally.
