About this course

Free Functional Skills English Level 1 in Penzance. Evening classes run at Penwith College, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. The course covers speaking, listening, reading and writing, building the skills you need to communicate clearly and accurately in everyday situations and at work. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Level 1 is the right starting point and to help plan your learning. The course runs over 20 weeks part-time.

Functional Skills English qualifications ensure that learners are able to speak, listen, communicate, read and write with increasing clarity, accuracy and effectiveness so that they can prepare for employment. Level 1 English is popular for people who need to improve English skills before starting level 2 English.
