Assessment for the Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in English Level 1 covers three components: reading, writing, and speaking, listening and communicating. Each component is assessed separately. Reading and writing are assessed by external exam. Speaking, listening and communicating is assessed by your tutor through a set task. You'll have an initial assessment before you start so the centre can confirm Level 1 is the right starting point for you.
