div This qualification is for people who are required to hold a regulated and nationally recognised Level 3 prehospital care qualification and for those who intend (or have a specific responsibility at work or in voluntary and community activities) to provide prehospital emergency care as a Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC®3) provider. /div p /p p It is ideal for those looking to equip themselves with lifesaving skills to prepare them to be amongst the first to arrive at a scene of an emergency including first responders such as police officers firefighters emergency medical services and search and rescue personnel. /p div /div div It is also ideal for those providing event medical cover or roles such as First Res

Entry requirements

p Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of training. /p p No formal entry requirements but is is recommended that learners have a minimum level 2 literacy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid. /p

What you will learn

  • You'll assess a casualty using a structured primary and secondary survey.
  • You'll manage an obstructed airway and use airway adjuncts.
  • You'll perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator.
  • You'll control severe bleeding and treat for shock.
  • You'll recognise and respond to common medical emergencies, including stroke, seizure, and anaphylaxis.
  • You'll immobilise suspected spinal and limb injuries.
  • You'll document and hand over patient information to arriving emergency services.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions, practical skills demonstrations, and scenario-based exercises. Assessment combines written knowledge tests and observed practical assessments. You must show competence in each practical skill to pass. The course runs over five daytime sessions at Crawley College.
