About this course

Free Entry Level ESOL Skills for Life (speaking and listening) Course in Bradford. Classes run at Skills for Work, part-time during the day, making it easier to fit study around family or other commitments. You'll practise introducing yourself, making appointments face to face and by phone, and building the vocabulary and grammar you need for everyday situations. The course runs for 60 hours. You'll start with an initial assessment so the centre can confirm the right level for you and plan your learning.

Who this course is for

ESOL courses achieving full qualifications from Entry Level progressing to Level 2 qualifications. On this course people will: practice introducing themselves; learn to recognise letters of the alphabet; learn to make an appointment face to face or over the phone; learn some words.

Entry requirements

You will be required to undertake an initial assessment and basic skills diagnostic assessment to determine the level you are working prior to starting the course/qualification.

What you will learn

  • You'll learn to recognise and use letters of the alphabet.
  • You'll learn to make appointments face to face and over the phone.
  • You'll build vocabulary for everyday topics including health, work, and family life.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Skills for Work, attending part-time during the day. Classes focus on speaking and listening through guided practice, group activities, and teacher-led sessions. Assessment for the Pearson Edexcel Award is through observed speaking and listening tasks. There is no written exam for this qualification.
