About this course

Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths in Ipswich. Classes run at TCHC Ipswich GAPS Centre. This entry level functional skills maths course covers using numbers and the number system, working with measures, shape and space, and handling data. You'll also get support with everyday budgeting. The course runs full-time during the day and takes around 55 hours. To join, you must be enrolled on a vocational qualification at one of the GAPS centres. This course is open to young people aged 16 to 18, and up to 24 with an EHCP.

  • You'll use common measures including length, weight, capacity, and time.
  • You'll read and interpret shapes and space in practical contexts.

  • You'll apply maths to everyday budgeting and cost-of-living situations.
  • You'll practise both calculator and non-calculator maths.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at TCHC Ipswich GAPS Centre during the day. Assessment is by two exams: one where you can use a calculator and one where you cannot. Teaching covers the three core areas of the qualification: number, measures and shape, and data handling.
