Who this course is for

Turn your passion for sport into a successful career with the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. This exciting two-year course is designed for students who are enthusiastic about sport, fitness, coaching, and performance, and want to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for employment or progression to university.

Throughout the course, you will explore a wide range of topics, including sport and exercise physiology, fitness training and programming, sports coaching, sports psychology, anatomy and physiology, sports leadership, professional development, sports injuries, and practical sports performance. You will have opportunities to apply your learning through practical sessions, industry-related projects, and real-world sporting contexts. You will learn through a variety of activities including classroom-based lessons and practical sessions All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a Work Placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

The qualification is equivalent to three A Levels and is assessed primarily through a combination of coursework, practical assessments, presentations, and externally assessed units. This approach allows students to demonstrate both their academic understanding and practical abilities.

Students will develop valuable transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, organisation, and self-management, all of which are highly sought after by employers and higher education providers.
