This course is free for 16 to 18 year olds who can show some ability in a physical or performance discipline. Dance, drama, gymnastics, parkour, and martial arts all count. You don't need previous circus experience. You will need a good level of fitness. The course covers circus disciplines including aerial, juggling, acrobatics, and balance. You'll also study physical theatre, movement, and performance techniques. Academic study includes theatre practitioners, community project planning, and the performing arts industry. The course runs for one year.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts Practice.

You will need a keen interest in a career in the performing arts, but dont need to have any previous circus experience.

Applicants will need a good level of fitness as this is a very practical course!

Entry requirements

You must have a GCSE in English and in Maths grade 9-4.

We recommend that applicants have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 94, however this isnt essential.

You'll learn through practical, studio-based sessions at Circomedia. The course is very physically intensive. Academic study runs alongside practical training. You'll complete modules covering collaborative performance, the performing arts industry, duo performance, and self-promotion. Assessment is through a combination of practical performance work and written academic tasks.
