About this course

Free BTEC Level 3 Computing Course in Enfield. Classes run at Chace Community School, full-time during the day.

The course takes 18 months and builds a strong foundation in computer science. You'll study three mandatory units covering the principles of computer science, fundamentals of computing, and systems analysis and design. The course also covers computer programming and product development and testing.

You'll need at least four GCSEs at Level 2 or above, including English and Maths. A GCSE in Computer Science is helpful but not required. You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Certificate in Computing.

Who this course is for

The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare learners for further study or training. Learners have the opportunity to develop a significant core of knowledge in computer science, as well as additional skills in systems analysis and design, systems methodology, computer programming and product development and testing.

All students will study three mandatory units that include:

  • Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science
  • Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Systems
  • Unit 7: IT Systems Security and Encryption.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved a minimum of four Level 2 grades at GCSE including English and Maths. A GCSE in Computer Science is desirable, but not essential.
