The course builds the scientific knowledge and practical skills that universities and employers look for in applied science. It opens routes into degree programmes and into entry-level roles in laboratory, industrial, or medical settings. You'll graduate with the Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Certificate in Applied Science.
Who this course is for
This qualification is primarily designed to support progression to applied science, and related employment, after further study at university. However, it also supports students progressing directly to employment as the transferable knowledge, understanding and skills will give successful students an advantage when applying for a range of entry-level industry training programmes and/or higher apprenticeships, in areas such as laboratory technician, industrial technician or medical technician. Students can go on to study subjects such as biology, forensic science and biomedical sciences, or enter the workplace to pursue careers with the police or in the medical care sector.
