Free BTEC Level 2 Uniformed Public Services Course in Hull. Classes run full-time at Hull College, five days a week during the day. Over one year, you'll build your understanding of the police, fire, ambulance, and armed forces, and what each service does in the community. You'll take part in fitness sessions designed to meet the entry standards for uniformed roles, as well as adventurous activities alongside serving professionals. To start, you'll need four GCSEs at grade 3 or above (or a Level 1 Subject Qualification) and a satisfactory level of physical fitness.
Who this course is for
This course offers an option to study criminology, psychology and law in an exciting and dynamic combination; this is the perfect starter course for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the legal system, psychology or criminal justice. There is a maths and English GCSE option for those who require a retake of these GCSE’s built into the programme. Successful achievement of grades 4 in Maths and English and the main study programme will lead to a natural progression onto our level 3 provision and then potentially university. You will gain an insight into why people commit crime and how laws are made and enforced as well as the psychological perspectives of crime and crime control in this unique and exciting level 2 course. This course is entirely portfolio based and assessed in a step by step approach meaning you can gradually build up evidence of your knowledge and achievement throughout the year.

How you will learn

Assessment is through Pearson Edexcel BTEC-style coursework and assignments rather than a single end exam. You'll build a portfolio of evidence across the units you study. Attendance is full-time during the day.

The centre will provide most materials. Hull College will confirm anything else you need before you start. You should be prepared for physical activity sessions, so appropriate sportswear and footwear will be needed.
