BTEC Level 2 Uniformed Public Services Course in Colchester. Classes run full-time at Adult Skills Centre Colchester, five days a week during the day, over nine months. It is free for learners aged 16 to 18 years old. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply. The course covers the structure and roles of the police, fire and rescue service, prison service, and armed forces. You will explore fitness requirements, multi-agency working, and what careers in each service involve. Delivery includes lectures, practical activities, outside visits, and guest speakers from the sector. You will also develop your English, maths, and employability skills alongside the main programme.

Who this course is for

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Preparation for Public Services is designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success when moving towards a career in the uniformed services, for example police force, fire and rescue service, prison service or armed forces.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs (9-3) including English and Maths, or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent, or satisfactory results (Merit/Distinction) in a relevant Level 1 qualification and an interview.
