About this course

Free BTEC in Health and Social Care in Widnes. Classes run at Cronton Sixth Form College. This is a two-year, full-time daytime course studied alongside two A Level subjects as part of a mixed programme. You'll explore how care services work, the needs of different people, and the values that underpin good care practice. The level 3 BTEC in health and social care qualification is assessed through a mix of coursework and exams. Who this course is for

Aimed at School Leavers. This subject but must be studied over two years as part of our mixed programmes. You will choose 2 A level subjects alongside 1 Level 3 Extended Certificate to study over two years.

Entry requirements

To study an A Level programme you will need to achieve a minimum of three grade 5s and two grade 4s at GCSE including English Language and Maths at grade 5. Each individual subject carries its own entry criteria and some subjects do require higher grades than this. How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions, combining teacher-led lessons with independent study and group work. Assessment is through a combination of internally assessed coursework assignments and externally set and marked examinations. Your coursework is assessed by your tutors and moderated by Pearson Edexcel. The external exams test your knowledge of core health and social care content.
