Who this course is for

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care is an applied general qualification equivalent to one A Level. Learners taking this qualification will study three mandatory units:

  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Working in Health and Social Care
  • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs.

In addition, students will study the following unit:

  • Physiological Disorders and their Care

Entry requirements

A minimum of 6 GCSEs (or equivalent) to start on 4 A/S Levels. These must be from at least 4 separate courses, with 4 GCSEs at A*-C and English & maths at grade 4 or better. How you will learn

The Pearson Edexcel BTEC uses a mix of internally assessed coursework and externally assessed examinations. Some units are assessed through assignments and portfolio work marked by the centre; others are assessed through written exams set and marked by Pearson. Classes are delivered in a classroom setting at Hellesdon High School during the day.
