Who this course is for

In Sixth Form students generalise their literacy and maths skills in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts. These skills are to become intrinsic to them and used both with no or little prompting. What is more, the fluency of skills is important as in the adult life the quality of what we do does matter. Towards Independence provides a framework of activities through which personal, social and independence skills can be developed and accredited for those with moderate (MLD), severe (SLD), and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Towards Independence offers formal recognition for small steps of achievement towards a larger goal. Modules can be used separately and accumulated to build a records of personal achievement.
