Who this course is for

COURSE OVERVIEW

Our new Access to HE Diploma (Forensic Science) is designed to teach students how the world of Forensic Science works. This is a full-time Level 3 course over 2 years for 16-18 year olds and ends with a qualification equivalent to 3 A levels.

Entry requirements

All learners must be 16-18 years old on the 1st of September and will need to have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-4, which includes English Language and Maths and all Sciences (combined or triple).

What you will learn

  • You'll explore how forensic biology and chemistry apply to criminal investigations.
  • You'll study DNA profiling and how genetic evidence is analysed.
  • You'll learn how toxicology is used to identify substances in forensic cases.
  • You'll examine how physical evidence is collected, preserved, and presented.
  • You'll develop scientific report writing and data analysis skills.
  • You'll build an understanding of the legal and ethical framework around forensic evidence.

How you will learn

You'll study in the classroom full-time, five days a week. Learning is a mix of taught sessions, practical science work, and written assignments.
