About this course

AAT Level 3 Accounting Course in Doncaster. Classes run at Doncaster College one day a week, part-time during the day. If you're 16 to 18 years old, the course is free. If you're 19 or over, fees may apply depending on your prior qualifications and personal circumstances. You'll study four mandatory subjects over one year, covering the core skills employers look for in accounting roles. AAT is a professional body, and many employers now ask staff to hold this level 3 aat accounting qualification. You must have completed a Level 2 Accounting course, or have relevant work experience, to join.

Who this course is for

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) course will start in September and will run until July. This is an excellent course provided by the college and most employers are asking potential or existing employees to gain this qualification, as they would now be part of a professional body. During this course you will be taught 4 subjects. All of the units within the qualification are mandatory. The course will be delivered one day a week or alternatively over two evenings a week.

Entry requirements

To be eligible to enter onto the level 3 course, you MUST have completed an equivalent level 2 course in Accounting (especially bookkeeping) or have the relevant experience (this will be on the course leader’s discretion, Mary McKee). To see if you are able to qualify to enter directly onto the level 3 course, visit www.aat.org.uk and in the search box enter skills test, this will give you 30 questions and will at the end tell you what the appropriate level for your study is.

What you will learn

  • You'll prepare financial statements for sole traders and partnerships.
  • You'll manage costs and budgets within a business.
  • You'll complete tax processes for businesses, including VAT returns.
  • You'll use accounting software to process financial data.
  • You'll apply ethical and professional standards in accounting work.

How you will learn

You'll attend classes at Doncaster College one day a week, or over two evenings a week. The course runs from September to July. All four units are mandatory and assessed through AAT's external assessments, which are computer-based exams sat at an approved centre. Your tutor will guide you through each subject before you sit the assessments.
