About this course

Entry Level Construction Skills in Croydon. Classes run at John Ruskin College on Tuesday evenings, from 5pm to 8pm.

The course is a hands-on introduction to trade skills used across the construction industry. No previous knowledge or experience is needed. You'll cover bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, wall and floor tiling, painting and decorating, plumbing, electrical basics, and construction operations. The course takes 7 weeks part-time, making it easy to fit around other commitments.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Award in Construction Skills at Entry Level 3.

How you will learn

You'll learn through a mix of classroom sessions and practical workshop activities. Each unit is assessed through practical assignments, so you demonstrate your skills by doing rather than sitting written exams. You'll use real tools and materials throughout the course. Steel toe-capped boots and overalls are required for all workshop sessions.
