Computer Course in Poole. Classes run at the Dolphin Centre on Thursday mornings, part-time over 6 weeks. This is a follow-on entry level computer course building on foundational ICT skills. You'll learn to operate ICT systems safely, search for information online, and create and present content for a purpose such as job applications. No prior qualifications are needed. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the course is the right level for you. The full fee is £63, though concessions are available.

Who this course is for

This is the follow-on course to our ICT for Beginners A course and is suitable for a wide range of learners. Learners do not need any particular qualifications or experience and our expectation is that everyone who applies for the course will be welcomed�on it if there is sufficient space.�

What you will learn

  • You'll start up, shut down, and navigate an ICT system correctly.
  • You'll open and close software applications and use input and output devices.
  • You'll follow safe practices when using a computer.
  • You'll use search techniques to find, select, and use information online.
  • You'll enter, develop, and present content for a specific purpose.
  • You'll apply your ICT skills in the context of making job applications.

How you will learn

Classes run on Thursday mornings, 9:30 to 12:30, for 7 weekly sessions of 3 hours each. You'll learn through hands-on practice in the classroom, working through three units that build your ICT skills step by step. Assessment is based on the work you produce during the course, covering how you use ICT systems, safe operating practices, and how you search for and present information.
