This is the follow-on course to our ICT for Beginners A course and is suitable for a wide range of learners. Learners do not need any particular qualifications or experience and our expectation is that everyone who applies for the course will be welcomed�on it if there is sufficient space.�

What you will learn

  • You'll start up and shut down a computer correctly and open and close applications.
  • You'll use input devices (such as a keyboard and mouse) and output devices.
  • You'll navigate software applications and recognise common interface features.
  • You'll follow safe practices when using ICT equipment.
  • You'll use search techniques to find, select, and use information online.
  • You'll enter and format text to create documents for a specific purpose.
  • You'll develop and present information using an ICT system.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Dorchester Library and Learning Centre, with six weekly sessions of three hours each. Learning is hands-on, working directly with computers during class time. Assessment is practical and task-based, covering the four skill areas: using an ICT system, safe operating practices, searching for information, and entering and presenting content.
