Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming.
If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in esports, then the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports at Barnet and Southgate College may be the course for you.
This course is aimed at learners who have an interest in sport and computer gaming and want to develop their knowledge and skills to progress to employment in the esports industry, or who may aspire to enter higher education.
The BTEC L3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports is a one-year qualification and is equivalent in size to 1.5 A levels. On completion of this qualification, learners can progress onto the BTEC L3 National Extended Diploma in Esports (equivalent in size to 3 A levels).
Entry requirements
Required to have 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English, Maths and preferably P.E. Applicants with a BTEC L2 Certificate require a Merit grade, with English and maths GCSEs at a minimum grade 4.
You must have an interest and choose from one of the following academies on your application: Esports; Athletics; Basketball; Football; Tennis; Boxing or Leadership.
It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive sport however, not necessary.
