Entry requirements

What you will learn

  • You'll develop skills in drawing, mark-making, and visual communication.
  • You'll explore a range of materials, techniques, and processes used in art and design.
  • You'll research the work of artists, designers, and movements to inform your own practice.
  • You'll plan and develop creative projects from initial idea to finished outcome.
  • You'll build a portfolio that demonstrates your creative development and technical skills.
  • You'll reflect critically on your own work and the work of others.
  • You'll work across specialist areas such as fine art, graphic design, photography, or textiles.

How you will learn

The BTEC format is coursework-based. You'll be assessed through assignments, projects, and a portfolio of practical work rather than written exams. Classes are classroom-based and run during the day. You'll work on set briefs and self-directed projects, with feedback from tutors throughout. Assessment is ongoing, so your work is reviewed as you progress rather than in a single end-of-year exam.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Rush Green Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start.
