About this course

BSc (Hons) Health and Wellbeing (Top-up) course in Wakefield. Classes run at Wakefield College, full-time over one year. This BSc health and wellbeing qualification is designed for people who already hold a foundation degree, HND, or Level 5 qualification in a related area. You'll combine academic study with practical work experience, covering topics such as health inequalities, leadership and management, community health, and substance misuse. The course includes an independent research dissertation. Sessions typically run two days a week. Assessment is through assignments, reports, portfolios, and presentations.

Who this course is for

This course combines study and practical work experience to equip you with a combination of technical abilities, academic knowledge, and transferable skills that are highly desirable to employers. The course is designed to follow on from the FdSc in Health and Well-being, though this particular course is not a pre-requisite for entry. Many Learners will already have a range of rich and varied experiences of working with in the health and social care sector. This course will help you become more aware of developmental approaches to learning and to reflect on your own practice, which will extend your professional competence and effectiveness in supporting individual care needs and developing existing management knowledge and skills.

Entry requirements

A foundation degree, HND, or L5 qualification (minimum average grade Level 5 of 50%) or Those with previous experience or relevant learning may be eligible via APL process for accreditation.

Students who have not previously completed a Level 5 research module may be required to undertake a short bridging module prior to the start of the programme which is designed to ensure that students are able to undertake the academic demands of Level 6 study.
