Who this course is for

Childhood studies is an exciting field drawing upon psychology, sociology and education theory. Early childhood experiences contribute to formative development and affect children for the rest of their lives. The modern world presents a wide range of new and challenging experiences for children, including 24/7 access to media, cultural diversity, cyber-bullying and increasing class sizes. This course prepares students to enter a career working with infants and children , whether in education, health care or childrens services - and to make a positive contribution to formative years. This programme is validated by the Open University. For information on the OU regulations, fee information, refunds and payment details including annual increases, and accessibility statement please see our Essential Information page.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate foundation degree or Level 5 equivalent. There will be an interview for all applicants with the programme leader. Non-standard entrants are interviewed to assess their ability to complete the course, including a review of their professional experience and training gained in the workplace.
