AAT Level 3 Accounting Course in Sheffield. Classes run at Kaplan Sheffield, part-time on a day or block release basis. The course may be funded through a Government Apprenticeship for eligible learners. Fees may apply otherwise. You'll cover advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, cost accounting records, and ethical practices for accountants. The course covers the full AAT level 3 aat accounting qualification content, from financial processes through to preparing reports and returns. You'll sit computer-based assessments for each unit. The course takes 4 days of taught study.

Who this course is for

Kaplan's Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. You'll learn and master a number of accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

It is ideally suited for someone who has completed the Level 2 Foundation Certificate, someone who perhaps works in an accounts department at an intermediate level and wants to develop their accounting skills or someone who is looking to change their career. It is also an excellent A Level alternative.The Advanced Diploma is made up of 4 separately examinable units plus a synoptic assessment. Within the synoptic assessment you will be tested on two additional units, Ethics for Accounting and Spreadsheet for Accounting, as well as on the knowledge you've gained from the 4 underpinning units. You must have completed your studies for all separately examinable units before you attempt the synoptic assessment.

  • You'll prepare and interpret financial statements for sole traders and partnerships.
  • You'll maintain cost accounting records and analyse costs for management reporting.
  • You'll complete advanced bookkeeping tasks, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
  • You'll prepare VAT returns and understand the rules around VAT compliance.
  • You'll apply ethical principles in accounting practice.
  • You'll produce reports and returns for internal and external use.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Kaplan Sheffield, with tutor-led sessions on day or block release. Each unit is assessed by a computer-based assessment (CBA) set and marked by AAT. You'll sit these assessments when you're ready, under exam conditions. There is no coursework or portfolio. Your tutor will guide you through each topic before you take the assessment for that unit.
