AAT Level 2 Accounting Course in Cambridge. Classes run at Kaplan Cambridge, part-time on a day or block release basis. The course may be funded through a Government Apprenticeship. If that route does not apply to you, fees may apply. This level 2 aat accounting qualification covers the core skills employers expect from anyone working in finance, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing, and working effectively in a finance environment. The course includes a synoptic assessment that draws together your learning from all units. It runs over two days of structured classroom study.
Who this course is for
Kaplan's Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of basic accounting principles and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to using accounting software.
It is ideally suited for someone who is new to accounting and finance, someone who perhaps works in an accounts department but wants to gain a qualification or enhance their foundation knowledge and skills or someone who is looking to change their career. Top five skills you'll gain:
Effective business communication skills including letters, memos and informal reports
Processing payments and receipts
Preparing invoices
Completing bank reconciliations
Using accounting software
You'll apply double-entry bookkeeping to record financial transactions accurately.
You'll process transactions using the principles of basic costing.
You'll work with purchase, sales, and general ledgers.
You'll understand how to work effectively within a finance team and organisation.
You'll prepare for the synoptic assessment by revisiting and connecting learning across all units.
You'll use accounting software to support day-to-day finance tasks.
How you will learn
You'll study in a classroom at Kaplan Cambridge, with tutor-led sessions covering each unit in the syllabus. Assessment includes unit-based computer-marked exams and a Foundation Synoptic Assessment (FSYA), which tests your knowledge across the full qualification. The synoptic exam covers the Work Effectively in Finance unit alongside topics from earlier units. Day or block release attendance means you can fit study around work or other commitments.
